A specialized Intellectual Property Law Firm is recruiting for a Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join the Chemical Engineering group. The position involves preparing and prosecuting patent applications, providing patentability evaluations, and participating in post-issuance proceedings. Candidates with a background in chemistry or chemical engineering and a minimum of one year of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Location: Denver, Colorado

Duties:

  • Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S., EPO, and foreign patent applications in chemistry, chemical engineering, and related fields
  • Counsel clients domestically and internationally, proactively solicit invention disclosures
  • Conduct patentability evaluations and render opinions on validity, non-infringement, and patent avoidance
  • Support post-issuance proceedings such as post-grant reviews, inter partes reviews, and oppositions
  • Participate in due diligence, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating IP-related agreements
  • Conduct and analyze patent searches related to third-party patents

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a law firm or corporate law department, preferably in patent prosecution
  • Experience in drafting patentability and non-infringement opinions preferred
  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering, chemistry, or materials science

Education:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science
  • Juris Doctor (JD) and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state (preferably Colorado)

Certifications:

  • Admission or eligibility to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Skills:

  • Exceptional writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to client interaction
