Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced, highly motivated Litigation Attorney to join its team in San Jose, CA. Duties

• Manage and handle your caseload, working independently and as part of a team.
• Represent clients in family law and criminal law matters, from initial consultations through trial and resolution.
• Provide legal advice and counsel to clients, ensuring strategies align with their goals.
• Draft and file legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
• Appear in court for trials, hearings, settlement conferences, and status conferences.
• Collaborate with other attorneys to strategize on cases and develop effective legal strategies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal precedents, court rules, and best practices.
• Participate in continuing legal education (CLE) to stay current with legal trends and requirements.
• Attend meetings, conferences, and other events to build professional relationships and further your career.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in family law, litigation, and/or criminal law.
• Active membership in the California State Bar and good standing.
• Strong legal research and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and persuasive legal documents.
• Proven ability to handle cases independently, from inception to trial.
• Comfort and confidence in the courtroom and with client interactions, even in emotionally charged situations.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Local candidates preferred (San Jose, CA area).
• Certified specialists in family law or criminal law are encouraged to apply.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership with the California State Bar (Required).
• Family Law or Criminal Law Certification (Preferred but not required).
