A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic team in Houston, Texas. Duties:

  • Provide clear and strategic advice to clients on various immigration matters, ensuring they understand their options and the best legal strategies.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage a caseload of diverse immigration cases, including family-based petitions, removal defense, citizenship, and humanitarian applications.
  • Conduct intakes and visits with detained individuals at detention centers to assess their legal needs.
  • Prepare and review a variety of immigration applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration law and policy.
  • Develop strategies for clients and witnesses, preparing them for court hearings and USCIS interviews.
  • Submit legal briefs and documentation for a variety of immigration cases.
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations to assess their eligibility for various immigration benefits and develop the appropriate legal strategy.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, providing regular updates and personalized legal support.

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload and move legal cases forward efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex immigration concepts clearly.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, removal defense, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, and USCIS applications.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficient in case management software and other relevant legal tools.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the state bar (Texas) or eligibility to practice in Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of immigration law and procedures.
  • Ability to handle complex immigration cases and provide strategic legal solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills for managing caseloads.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills for working with clients, witnesses, and law enforcement.
