Job Overview:
A premier law firm in Oak Park, IL, is seeking an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its team. The Senior Immigration Attorney will be responsible for representing clients, overseeing their caseloads, and providing strategic guidance on a variety of immigration matters. Location:

  • Oak Park, IL

Duties:

  • Explain immigration law concepts and present strategic solutions to clients
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a caseload and ensure timely progression of cases
  • Conduct intake sessions with detained individuals at immigration detention centers
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets as necessary
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients to provide strategic immigration consultations and determine appropriate strategies
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis for clients to identify potential case benefits
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in immigration law
  • Strong ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to collaborate and strategize with other associates
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication abilities
  • High level of organization and time management
  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
