Job Overview: A well-established law firm based in El Segundo, CA is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its thriving practice. The firm specializes in insurance defense, including medical malpractice, general liability, public entity defense, and other civil litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of relevant experience and be licensed to practice in California. The position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on litigation and client representation in a variety of legal areas.

Duties:

• Independently manage a caseload with guidance from senior attorneys.
• Conduct legal research utilizing tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw.
• Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and briefs.
• Handle discovery processes and analyze medical, employment, and other records.
• Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, and meetings.
• Regularly communicate with clients to provide status updates and legal advice.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues to develop case strategies and solutions.

Requirements:

• Must be licensed to practice law in California.
• 2-5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on insurance defense.
• Proven experience handling complex litigation matters, including medical malpractice, and public entity defense.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to make sound legal decisions.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school required.

Certifications:

• Must be admitted to practice in the state of California.

Skills:

• Legal research and writing.
• Litigation and trial preparation.
• Strong oral advocacy and negotiation skills.
• Client communication and management.
• Experience with insurance defense and carrier billing/reporting guidelines is preferred.
