General Liability (Motor Vehicle) Associate Attorney

A law firm in White Plains, NY is seeking a General Liability (Motor Vehicle) Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, experience in general liability with a focus on motor vehicle claims, and the ability to manage a high caseload effectively. This role involves extensive legal research, client representation, and trial preparation, with an annual billable hour requirement. The successful candidate will possess excellent writing and communication skills and demonstrate a strong work ethic.

Duties:

• Review files and perform legal analysis of general liability motor vehicle claims and causes of action.
• Conduct extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Regularly represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and during depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses as needed.
• Prepare for and attend trials, including developing case strategies and presenting evidence.
• Maintain an annual billable hour requirement of 1950 hours.
• Respond promptly to email and phone inquiries from clients and colleagues.
• Demonstrate strong client interaction skills and maintain a professional telephone manner.
• Some travel may be required for client meetings, court appearances, and depositions.

Requirements:

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admitted to practice in the state of New York; admission in additional states is a plus.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in general liability, with motor vehicle claim experience preferred.
• Exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid research skills and strong written and oral communication capabilities.
• Ability to self-manage a high caseload while working effectively in a team environment.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting annual billable hour targets.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice law in New York; additional state admissions are advantageous.
