A law firm in Springfield, MA, is actively seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Attorney with a focus on patent cases before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in patent and other IP-related matters.

 

Job Overview:

The Intellectual Property Attorney will be responsible for practicing in patent cases before the USPTO. The role encompasses a range of IP-related duties, including trademark and patent registration and protection, IP portfolio management, negotiation of IP licenses and agreements, conducting IP audits, providing support for complex business agreements, handling infringement issues, and advising clients on IP protection, management, and monetization.

 

Duties:

  • Practice in patent cases before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Prosecution of trademark and patent registration and protection.
  • Management of trademark and patent portfolios, including familiarity with portfolio management systems/software.
  • Negotiating and drafting IP licenses, assignments, and other IP-related agreements.
  • Conducting IP audits.
  • Providing IP support for complex business agreements, including performing IP due diligence.
  • Handling IP infringement issues, including drafting and responding to cease-and-desist letters.
  • Assisting with litigation of IP-related matters.
  • Working within the USPTO.
  • Advising clients regarding the protection, management, and monetization of IP.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Mass. Bar and the U.S. Patent Bar.
  • 5+ years of experience with patent and other IP-related matters.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and positively with others.
  • Excellent communication skills.
