A law firm seeks a highly motivated Litigation Attorney to join its legal team in Crofton, MD. This role involves representing clients regionally in Maryland and Washington, D.C., focusing on debt recovery litigation for major financial institutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a high-volume practice and handling a variety of litigation matters, including negotiations, court appearances, and settlement discussions. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking a dynamic, client-focused practice with the flexibility of hybrid work.

Duties:

  • Negotiate settlements and resolve pending litigation matters related to debt recovery.
  • Handle motion practice, including drafting pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in hearings, court appearances, and trials within the MD/DC region.
  • Manage case calendars, document execution, and ensure timely filing of necessary paperwork.
  • Provide legal advice and support to clients on various litigation matters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, opposing counsel, and court personnel to facilitate case progress.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all case-related activities.

Requirements:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the Maryland State Bar (required).
  • DC Bar membership is highly preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in civil litigation, preferably in debt recovery (training available for those without specific experience).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work independently and interact professionally with staff, clients, opposing counsel, and the court system.
  • Comfort with technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume practice environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Maryland State Bar License (required).
  • DC Bar License (preferred).

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
