Associate Attorney Litigation Defense

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for its litigation defense practice based in Jericho, NY. Duties:

• Represent clients in defense litigation matters, including general liability, professional liability, and insurance coverage cases.
• Handle a variety of legal tasks, including drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery documents.
• Participate in depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and client management.
• Conduct legal research and provide detailed analysis of statutes, case law, and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain case files and ensure timely follow-up on all pending matters.
• Assist with settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.

Requirements:

• 1-5 years of experience in litigation, with a focus on defense work preferred.
• General liability, professional liability, and insurance coverage experience are required.
• Experience with drafting and reviewing legal documents, including motions and discovery requests.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the New York State Bar (required).
