Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Derivatives Associate Attorney with a strong background in derivatives and financial transactions. The ideal candidate will have experience working at a financial institution or law firm, drafting documents for complex structures, and independently managing client relationships. This position requires a J.D. and NC Bar admission and is based in Washington, DC.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft and review documentation for complex derivatives transactions.
  • Advise clients on regulatory and compliance issues related to derivatives.
  • Structure and negotiate bespoke derivatives transactions.
  • Provide legal counsel on risk management and hedging strategies.
  • Maintain and manage client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff on multi-jurisdictional transactions.
  • Keep abreast of changes in derivatives law and industry trends.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of firm-wide derivatives strategies and policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in derivatives at a financial institution or law firm.
  • Proven ability to draft and review complex legal documents.
  • Strong understanding of derivatives markets, products, and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • Excellent client management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the North Carolina Bar.
