Job Overview:

A law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in immigration law, including experience with removal defense, family-based immigration petitions, and various USCIS applications. The role involves representing clients in immigration proceedings, managing a caseload, and working closely with law enforcement and community organizations. Bilingual candidates and those with experience in case management software are preferred.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, including preparation of immigration applications and petitions.
  • Conduct intake visits with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Provide strategic consultations to potential clients and determine necessary legal strategies.
  • Develop and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine possible benefits for clients' cases.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Proven track record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and strategizing.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in Texas (or eligibility to obtain).

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of immigration law and procedures.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
