A law firm in Springfield, MO, is seeking an experienced Appellate Attorney to join their growing Appellate Department. This remote position focuses on writing and preparing arguments to appeal administrative decisions related to disability law. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a background in Social Security Disability law or appellate work, and will thrive with minimal direct management. An active attorney license through a State Bar association is required, with a preference for licenses in MO, KS, or OK.

Duties:

  • Draft and file persuasive appellate briefs and legal arguments to appeal administrative decisions.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support appellate arguments.
  • Review and analyze case records and administrative decisions to identify grounds for appeal.
  • Develop strategic legal arguments and present them effectively in written form.
  • Collaborate with clients and legal team members to gather necessary information and evidence for appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of appellate cases independently with minimal supervision.
  • Stay informed about developments in Social Security Disability law and appellate procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with clients regarding the status of their appeals and provide strategic advice.
  • Prepare and submit legal documents, including briefs and motions, in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active attorney license through a State Bar association, preferably in MO, KS, or OK.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in appellate work or Social Security Disability law (preferred).
  • Proven experience in writing and filing appeals.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload remotely.
