A law firm in San Francisco is seeking a Mid-level IP Procurement and Portfolio Management Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of patent prosecution experience in the Life Sciences. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service. They will work closely with experienced attorneys, gaining mentorship and opportunities for professional growth.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage patent prosecution matters, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Provide strategic patent portfolio counseling and management in the Life Sciences sector.
  • Conduct IP due diligence, patentability, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Collaborate with clients and inventors to identify patentable inventions and assess patent portfolio strategies.
  • Assist in patent litigation and post-grant proceedings before the USPTO.
  • Conduct IP audits and assist with IP licensing and technology transactions.
  • Stay updated with changes in patent laws and regulations.

 

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or graduate degree in Molecular Biology or Chemistry strongly preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • 3-5 years of experience in patent prosecution, particularly in the Life Sciences field.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to client service excellence and delivering high-quality work.
