A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Matrimonial & Family Law team in Woodbury, New York. The ideal candidate will be passionate about family law and have hands-on experience managing cases related to divorce, child custody, and other family law matters. Duties:

  • Represent clients in all aspects of matrimonial and family law, including divorce, custody, and support matters.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
  • Appear in court to represent clients in hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Prepare and argue motions, petitions, and other legal filings.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic guidance on complex family law matters.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff to manage caseloads and client relationships.
  • Provide advice and counsel to clients on family law issues, including asset division and child custody arrangements.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in matrimonial and family law, including experience in civil practice (a plus).
  • Proven ability to prepare and argue motions in family law cases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in New York.

Skills:

  • Expertise in matrimonial and family law, including divorce, child custody, and support matters.
  • Proficiency in legal writing, including motions and pleadings.
  • Comfortable appearing in court and advocating on behalf of clients.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
