Job Title: Patent Prosecution And Litigation Associate Attorney - IP Litigation

Job Overview: A law firm in Charlottesville, VA is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Attorney to join its growing IP Litigation team within the Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group. This role will involve handling a variety of intellectual property litigation matters, including but not limited to case management, briefing, motion practice, depositions, and expert collaboration. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, managing cases and supervising junior associates and paralegals.

Duties:

• Manage and execute IP litigation matters, including patent prosecution and litigation cases.
• Draft and argue motions, manage complex litigation strategies, and oversee case progression.
• Take depositions, interact with experts, and participate in trial proceedings.
• Collaborate with senior partners and supervise junior associates and paralegals on case-related tasks.
• Assist with PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board) proceedings and manage case files.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, ensuring clear and consistent communication.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in intellectual property litigation, with a focus on patent matters.
• Demonstrated ability to manage litigation cases, including briefing, motions practice, and depositions.
• Experience in PTAB and trial proceedings is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to present complex legal arguments.
• A proven track record of supervising junior team members, including associates and paralegals.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Virginia or eligible for licensure in Virginia.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the USPTO is preferred but not mandatory.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Virginia, or have the ability to become licensed soon.

Skills:

• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• In-depth knowledge of IP litigation, including patent prosecution, PTAB proceedings, and trial practice.
• Leadership and mentoring skills to effectively manage junior team members.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
