A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to join its team in Kansas City, MO, or Cape Girardeau, MO. This role is ideal for candidates licensed in Kansas and Missouri, with a strong commitment to handling creditor rights cases in a dynamic legal environment.

Duties

  • Court Appearances: Prepare thoroughly for court appearances, ensuring timely and reliable attendance at scheduled hearings. Some travel may be required, including overnight stays for distant locations.
  • Court Coverage Management: Review and request coverage for court calls when unable to attend, including attaching all necessary documents for the attorney’s appearance and any required orders.
  • Mid-Litigation Motions: Draft, review, and file necessary motions throughout the litigation process.
  • Trial and Arbitration Preparation: Assist in preparing for trials and arbitrations, which may include travel to various counties.
  • Client and Attorney Communication: Communicate with consumers, their employers, and opposing attorneys to facilitate the resolution of accounts and legal matters.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed to practice law in both Kansas and Missouri; additional licensure in other states (IA, NE, ID, CA, WA, OR, AK, HI, NV) is a plus.
  • Comfortable with court appearances and punctuality is essential, utilizing personal transportation.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities along with excellent verbal and written communication skills to manage a high-volume caseload.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active licenses in Kansas and Missouri; additional state licenses are welcomed.
