Job Overview

A leading law firm is seeking a Finance Associate to join its Global Transportation Finance (GTF) practice group in Chicago, Los Angeles, or Dallas. This opportunity offers hands-on experience with complex international and domestic transactions involving the financing, leasing, acquisition, and enforcement of transportation assets. The associate will work closely with senior attorneys and clients in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, contributing to one of the nation's most highly ranked asset finance teams.

Location

  • Dallas, TX

Duties

  • Represent financial institutions, leasing companies, airlines, and investors in transportation finance transactions

  • Draft, negotiate, and review transaction documents, including leases, secured loan agreements, purchase agreements, and security documentation

  • Support cross-border and domestic transactions involving aviation, rail, maritime, and general equipment assets

  • Participate in business development initiatives and client-facing activities

  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Work directly with shareholders and contribute to client strategy

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in finance-related legal practice at a law firm

  • Experience with asset-based transactions and client-facing roles

  • Ability to manage several matters simultaneously and meet deadlines

  • Strong commitment to providing excellent client service

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Strong academic credentials preferred

Certifications

  • Admission to the bar in Illinois, California, or Texas (or eligibility for prompt admission)

Skills

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Aviation or maritime finance

    • Leveraged finance or secured lending

    • Securitization or capital markets

    • Structured or real estate finance

    • Private equity or project finance

  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
