A respected law firm is seeking an Intellectual Property Attorney with expertise in life sciences to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group. This role involves handling complex legal matters for life sciences clients, from strategic case management to litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in areas such as immunology, genetics, and molecular biology, along with a focus on advancing a career in intellectual property law.

Duties

  • Manage multiple legal matters from inception to conclusion, including strategic and high-level case management.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys and clients, maintaining strong interpersonal skills.
  • Work independently to produce high-quality legal work and bill required hours to maintain client service standards.
  • Engage in business development through individual and group efforts, contributing to client generation and retention.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards of the legal profession.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and utilize support staff or junior associates to ensure client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a licensed attorney, preferably within a law firm setting.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in intellectual property law with a focus on life sciences clients.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master’s) in a life sciences discipline such as immunology, genetics, molecular biology, or pharmaceuticals is highly preferred.

Certifications

  • Active bar license in good standing in at least one jurisdiction where the firm operates.
  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
