A law firm seeks an experienced and highly motivated associate attorney to join its prestigious CMBS (Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities) Finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance transactions, securities, capital markets, and real estate finance. The firm is looking for someone with expertise in commercial real estate lending, securitization, and experience in modifications, workouts, and servicing transactions. Duties:

  • Handle general finance transactions, with an emphasis on real estate capital markets and securities.
  • Work on commercial real estate lending, securitization, and related servicing transactions.
  • Manage modifications, workouts, and other complex real estate finance issues.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on a variety of finance-related matters, ensuring effective risk management and strategic solutions.
  • Engage in securities and capital market transactions, with a focus on CMBS and related financial instruments.
  • Draft and review complex transactional documents, including loan agreements, securities filings, and other legal documents.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, maintaining a client-focused approach in all legal matters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to address client needs in a multidisciplinary fashion.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-6 years of experience in finance, real estate, and/or capital markets law, preferably with a focus on CMBS or similar transactions.
  • Proven ability to handle complex finance transactions and provide sophisticated legal advice to clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • A client-centric approach, demonstrating commercial awareness and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the bar of the state where the firm is located (Kansas City, MO).

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar (Kansas City, MO or willing to apply for admission).

Skills:

  • Expertise in real estate finance, securities, and capital markets transactions.
  • Strong experience with commercial real estate lending and securitization.
  • In-depth knowledge of modifications, workouts, and servicing transactions.
  • Proficiency in drafting complex legal documents.
  • Strong negotiation and client management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and act as a trusted advisor to clients.
