Job Overview:
A respected law firm in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Senior Immigration Attorney to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced attorney with 5-8 years of immigration law experience to manage a complex caseload, collaborate with a dedicated legal team, and further develop their career. The Senior Immigration Attorney will handle removal proceedings, immigration applications, and provide expert legal counsel to clients while contributing to the firm’s growth and success.

Location:

  • San Jose, CA

Duties:

  • Provide strategic legal solutions and explanations for complex immigration matters.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage a varied caseload, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and humanitarian cases.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including family-based immigration petitions, removal defense, and other USCIS applications.
  • Review immigration application packets and ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law updates and changes.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients and develop tailored legal strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court hearings.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration matters.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in immigration law, including removal defense, family-based petitions, EOIR, detained cases, and citizenship applications.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively.
  • Excellent team player, willing to collaborate with attorneys and legal assistants.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build client relationships.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing and advancing legal cases.
  • Experience with Case Management Software preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar Admission in any state.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze legal issues and develop strategic solutions.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Strong client service and relationship-building skills.
