A law firm seeks a skilled and detail-oriented Data Privacy & Compliance Associate Attorney to join its team in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work arrangement. This position offers the opportunity to handle complex privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA, while working on transactional matters. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience, with a focus on drafting and negotiating privacy-related clauses and data security provisions. Strong analytical skills, an ability to manage multiple projects, and excellent communication are key attributes for success in this role.

Duties:

  • Provide counsel on compliance with privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and similar laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate privacy clauses and data protection terms in contracts and agreements.
  • Assist clients with identifying and managing privacy risks, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.
  • Work on multiple client matters simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient legal services.
  • Monitor legislative developments related to privacy law and proactively advise clients on necessary actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including compliance, legal, and technical teams, to address privacy and data security issues.
  • Prepare reports, memos, and presentations to communicate complex privacy matters clearly to clients.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in data privacy law, particularly with transactional work and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to draft and negotiate privacy agreements and data security provisions.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a simple, client-friendly manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in the state where the candidate resides.

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Expertise in drafting privacy clauses and negotiating data security provisions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
