Job Overview

A highly respected national law firm is seeking a mid- to senior-level associate attorney with over four years of experience to join its Energy, Infrastructure & Project Finance practice. This position offers the opportunity to represent prominent clients in the growing renewable energy sector, including utilities, independent power producers, investors, and developers. The associate will handle a variety of transactions focused on the development, acquisition, and financing of renewable energy projects, taking on substantial responsibility with direct client contact.

Duties

  • Represent sponsors and financing parties in renewable energy project transactions

  • Negotiate and draft key project and operational contracts, such as:

    • EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Agreements

    • Supply Agreements

    • Offtake Agreements

    • O&M (Operations and Maintenance) Agreements

  • Draft and review ancillary financing documents, including:

    • Debt financing agreements

    • Tax equity documents

    • M&A transactional documents

  • Collaborate directly with clients, legal teams, and third-party advisors

  • Take ownership of projects and contribute legal guidance across the project life cycle

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of legal experience in the energy industry

  • Background in a large law firm with national or international experience, or comparable in-house counsel role

  • Demonstrated experience with renewable energy project development, M&A, or finance

  • Proven ability to manage and execute complex transactional work

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a top-tier, accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar where the candidate resides

Skills

  • Strong drafting and negotiation capabilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Analytical thinking with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Confident working independently and in a team setting

  • Comfortable with regular client and third-party interaction
