A law firm is seeking an I.P. - Patent Agent/Technical Advisor to join their team in Mountain View, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, gene therapy, or a related field. This role requires excellent academic credentials, superior communication skills, and a commitment to client service.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.
  • Conduct in-depth patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Provide technical expertise in various scientific areas, including immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, and gene therapy.
  • Draft detailed technical descriptions and claims for patent applications.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to understand and meet patent strategy and business goals.
  • Review scientific literature and analyze data to support patent prosecution and litigation.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide updates on patent application status and strategy.

Requirements:

  • PhD (or MD with research experience) in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, gene therapy, or a related field.
  • Post-doctoral experience is desirable.
  • USPTO registration number is desirable.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • PhD in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, gene therapy, or a related field.
  • MD with research experience in the fields above is also acceptable.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration number (desirable).

Skills:

  • Strong technical expertise in relevant scientific fields.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and clients.
