A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Litigation Associate for its Phoenix office. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in employment law, with a strong focus on litigation. This role involves drafting and responding to legal documents, managing complex discovery processes, and participating in depositions and court hearings. The firm is looking for a motivated, independent, and team-oriented attorney with excellent legal writing and analytical skills. A background in restrictive covenants and trade secrets law is a plus, though strong litigation experience and interest in employment law will also be considered.

Duties

  • Draft and respond to discovery requests, initial pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Take and defend depositions, ensuring all key witnesses are thoroughly prepared.
  • Conduct electronic discovery (ESI) and manage complex discovery processes.
  • Draft, argue, and respond to motions in various employment law-related matters.
  • Provide legal advice on issues such as employment disputes, restrictive covenants, and trade secrets.
  • Manage multiple projects and cases simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and priorities are met.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff to ensure case efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Represent clients in hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
  • Continuously develop legal strategies in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of employment litigation experience.
  • Experience with discovery, including ESI (Electronic Stored Information), and the litigation process.
  • Knowledge and experience in restrictive covenants and trade secrets law is highly preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple litigation matters independently and work collaboratively with a team.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Must be admitted to practice in Arizona.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Arizona State Bar is required.

Skills

  • Litigation Expertise: Skilled in drafting pleadings, and motions, and handling all aspects of litigation.
  • Discovery & ESI: Experience with extensive discovery, including managing ESI processes and documentation.
  • Client Representation: Comfortable representing clients in hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Legal Research & Writing: Strong ability to conduct legal research and produce clear, concise, and persuasive written work.
  • Time Management: Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate legal concepts to clients and colleagues.
