Job Overview
A leading law firm in White Plains, NY is seeking a Labor and Employment Associate Attorney to join its team. The role involves providing comprehensive legal support across a range of employment law matters, including compliance, governance, litigation, and arbitration. The ideal candidate will bring 3-5 years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and a deep knowledge of employment law.

Duties

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on employment-related issues, including hiring practices, employee relations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour matters.
  • Handle compliance matters involving agencies, including audits and inspections.
  • Represent clients in employer arbitration cases before administrative bodies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the New York State Division of Human Rights.
  • Manage employment-related litigation from the discovery phase through trial, including drafting motions and legal documents (discovery motions, motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions).
  • Conduct legal research to support decision-making and provide recommendations to clients.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as HR, management, and other legal departments to ensure compliance with labor laws.
  • Stay up-to-date on developments in employment law and advise clients on potential legal impacts.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in employment law.
  • State and federal court litigation experience.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the relevant State Bar Association.

Certifications

  • State Bar Admission.
