A law firm seeks mid-level and senior attorneys to join its expanding team focused on medical malpractice defense. This is an exceptional opportunity for attorneys with experience in medical malpractice, healthcare, or personal injury law to further their careers in a supportive and congenial environment. Successful candidates will take on a variety of responsibilities in litigation, working closely with clients, medical professionals, and experts to represent clients in complex cases.

Duties:

  • Litigation & Court Representation:

    • Lead and manage all phases of litigation, including drafting and filing pleadings.
    • Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, and motions, effectively advocating for clients.
    • Prepare and respond to complex motions, including summary judgment motions.
  • Discovery & Trial Preparation:

    • Manage discovery processes, including drafting discovery demands and responses.
    • Assist in trial preparation by reviewing medical records, preparing chronologies, and summarizing case details.
    • Collaborate with expert witnesses and physicians to build cases.
  • Client & Carrier Communication:

    • Communicate regularly with clients and insurance carriers, providing detailed reports and updates.
    • Represent clients at various court appearances, ensuring effective case handling.
  • Team Collaboration & Mentoring:

    • Work in close collaboration with senior attorneys, assisting with case strategy and preparation.
    • Serve as a mentor to junior attorneys, sharing expertise and guiding litigation efforts.

Requirements:

  • Experience:

    • Mid-level to senior-level attorneys with a minimum of 3 years of experience in medical malpractice, healthcare, or personal injury law.
    • Strong litigation experience, including managing discovery and trial preparation.
    • Experience in conducting and defending depositions.
  • Skills:

    • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to handle all phases of litigation independently.
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills, particularly in managing complex cases.
    • Ability to collaborate with experts, clients, and fellow attorneys.
  • Work Style:

    • Self-starter with a proactive approach to managing cases.
    • Ability to thrive in a hybrid or remote work environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.

  • Communication & Advocacy: Excellent oral and written advocacy skills for court appearances, depositions, and client interaction.
