Job Overview:
A law firm located in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a talented and dynamic Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The firm specializes in handling complex defense litigation, including professional liability, general liability, and commercial coverage cases. This is an excellent opportunity to work with seasoned attorneys on a wide variety of cases, from pre-suit investigation to trial and appeal, all while gaining exposure to diverse clients and industries.

Duties:

• Analyze and summarize legal documents
• Conduct legal research, including investigating parties, businesses, and worksites
• Evaluate cases and develop strategic defenses
• Hold client meetings and offer strategic recommendations
• Investigate facts, prepare for and conduct depositions
• Draft and argue motions
• Represent clients in hearings and mediations
• Prepare witnesses and corporate representatives for testimony
• Present briefs in trial and appellate courts
• Write defense mediation summaries

Requirements:

• Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Georgia
• Critical thinking and strong research abilities
• Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills with acute attention to detail
• 4-6 years of experience in defense litigation
• Experience in insurance defense, professional liability, and/or coverage litigation is highly preferred
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and deadlines
• Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
• Client-focused approach with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
• The ability to interpret and review financial records is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership in the Georgia State Bar

Skills:
