Bankruptcy Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Litigation Associate to join its commercial mortgage-backed securities special servicer and creditors’ rights team. The ideal candidate will have experience handling commercial foreclosures, receiverships, real estate-related litigation, and bankruptcy cases. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex litigation matters, including motion practice, discovery, and courtroom proceedings.

Location:

Duties:

• Handle commercial foreclosure and receivership matters.
• Manage bankruptcy litigation cases, including motion practice and e-discovery.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
• Represent clients in court, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Provide counsel on commercial landlord-tenant disputes, including drafting and serving legal notices.

Requirements:

• 4 to 6 years of experience in commercial litigation and bankruptcy litigation.
• Experience in real estate-related litigation preferred.
• Familiarity with commercial landlord-tenant disputes and related litigation.
• Strong understanding of bankruptcy law and procedural rules.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active bar membership and good standing in the relevant state.

Skills:

• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong courtroom advocacy and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple complex cases and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

This is a branch office of an exciting national law firm with nationwide litigation practice in general trial and appellate practice before state and federal courts, insurance coverage litigation and counseling, directors and officers liability, professional liability, environmental/mass tort coverage, white collar criminal defense, real estate and golf course development, biotech, and general business counseling. The Chicago office is focused on insurance coverage litigation and counseling for clients in Chicago and the Midwest. The lawyers of this small office seem to truly enjoy working together.
