General Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:

A respected law firm is seeking a full-time Attorney to join its Insurance Defense Department in Hackensack, NJ. This role involves managing a variety of insurance defense cases from initial file review through discovery and trial. The ideal candidate will have trial experience and a strong commitment to providing excellent legal representation.

Location:

• Hackensack, NJ

Duties:

• Handle insurance defense matters from inception through trial, including discovery, motion practice, and resolution
• Conduct and manage trials, including trial preparation and courtroom appearances
• Analyze complex legal issues related to insurance defense cases and develop effective case strategies
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents associated with litigation
• Engage in direct communication with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel to discuss case strategy and case developments
• Manage a high-volume caseload while meeting deadlines and client expectations

Requirements:

• Admission to the New Jersey State Bar
• Admission to the New York State Bar is a plus
• Proven trial experience, with the ability to take cases to verdict
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in good standing in New Jersey (New York preferred but not required)

Skills:

• Proficiency in litigation, with hands-on experience in insurance defense matters
• Ability to manage complex cases independently and effectively
• Strong interpersonal skills for client interaction and teamwork
• Skilled in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research
