Job Overview: A law firm seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Business Associate to join its dynamic team in Carmel, IN. Duties:

  • Assist with legal administrative tasks, including document filing, case management, and brief preparation.
  • Transcribe legal documents and correspondence with accuracy and promptness.
  • Conduct document reviews for compliance with legal standards and firm protocols.
  • Organize and maintain both electronic and physical filing systems for easy document retrieval.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, scanning, and photocopying of legal materials.
  • Utilize case management software for opening new cases, processing demand letters, and guiding cases through the litigation process.
  • Support litigation projects by reviewing pleadings, notices, and other legal documents.
  • Investigate data discrepancies and propose solutions.
  • Participate in goal-oriented meetings to ensure alignment with firm objectives.

Requirements:

  • Strong typing skills (55 WPM or higher) with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments fluidly to meet business objectives.
  • Demonstrated dependability and punctuality.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly when interacting with court staff, attorneys, and legal stakeholders.
  • Motivation to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Previous data entry experience with comfort in repetitive tasks and toggling between multiple software platforms.

Education:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, but not required.

Certifications:

  • No paralegal certificate required.

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal document handling and case management software.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple Excel sheets and manage information across various tabs and programs.
  • Willingness to adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as business needs evolve.
