A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced USCIS Immigration Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney, the successful candidate will manage their caseload and client interactions, while collaborating with a dedicated Immigration Team. The role involves developing strategies, representing clients in various immigration proceedings, and preparing diverse immigration applications. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in immigration law, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Managing Immigration Attorney and manage a caseload of immigration cases.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct intake visits with detained individuals at centers and manage case-related tasks.
  • Prepare a range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and determine necessary strategies.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to identify possible case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred for effective client communication.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to move legal cases forward efficiently.
  • Utilize case management software to track and manage case progress (experience with such software preferred).

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Current California State Bar License/Member in good standing.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Proficiency with case management software preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law and USCIS procedures.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Proficiency in preparing and presenting legal briefs.
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish) preferred.
  • Experience with case management software.
