Job Overview: A well-established law firm is seeking a dynamic and motivated Associate Attorney to join its practice in Chicago. The ideal candidate will focus on family law and litigation cases, representing clients throughout the Chicagoland area. This role offers the opportunity to develop legal strategies, build strong client relationships, and represent clients in court. The firm is committed to supporting the growth of the right candidate by offering training to enhance negotiation, research, and communication skills.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Communicate with clients to understand their legal needs and provide counsel on family law and litigation matters
  • Develop legal strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively for clients
  • Advise clients on legal options and potential outcomes, including possible risks or threats
  • Build trust-based relationships with clients through effective communication and representation
  • Represent clients in criminal and civil legal proceedings, including court appearances and negotiations
  • Prepare legal documents such as contracts, dispositions, and pleadings in a timely and accurate manner
  • Stay informed on current legislation, especially related to family law and litigation
  • Find ethical and effective solutions to legal matters

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar (or eligibility for admission)
  • Strong commitment to ethical practice and adherence to local, state, and federal laws
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to develop case strategies
  • Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and public speaking skills
  • Excellent negotiation, research, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to changing case dynamics
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar (preferred)
