Job Overview:

A well-respected law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Virginia team within the Creditors' Rights practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for civil litigation, legal debt collection, and consumer protection matters, with opportunities for frequent court appearances. Location:

  • Norfolk, Virginia

Duties:

  • Represent clients in debt collection cases and creditors' rights matters
  • Handle a wide range of legal tasks related to consumer protection, debt collection, and bench-bar relations
  • Appear in court frequently for motion practice and trials
  • Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff to manage case loads
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously with attention to detail and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Requirements:

  • Admitted and in good standing to practice law in Virginia
  • Civil litigation experience preferred, especially in debt collection and creditors' rights
  • Courtroom experience, including motion practice and trial, is a plus
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with legal technology and case management tools
  • Ability to handle a high-volume caseload
  • Virginia, Maryland, or North Carolina licensure is a plus
  • Recent law school graduates who have passed the Virginia bar are welcome to apply

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia (required)
