Job Overview

A well-established labor and employment law firm is seeking a seasoned Special Counsel with over seven years of experience to join its Virtual Office team. This mostly remote position focuses on managing administrative charges, demand letters, and employment litigation, primarily for clients with Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI). The role involves handling cases directly and supervising other attorneys, offering a full-cycle litigation experience without the pressure of business development.

Duties

  • Manage and supervise employment-related matters, including administrative charges, demand letters, and litigation
  • Develop case strategies, draft legal documents, and review work product
  • Conduct depositions and represent clients at hearings, conferences, and trials
  • Handle single-plaintiff litigation, with potential involvement in class actions, PAGA cases, and other complex employment matters
  • Collaborate with partners, other attorneys, and support staff in a team environment

Requirements

  • Over seven years of experience in employment law and litigation
  • Proven ability to manage cases independently and supervise other attorneys
  • Expertise in handling EPLI matters is preferred

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Preferred admission in California, New York, Washington, Utah, Alabama, Georgia, or Texas

Skills

  • Strong case management and legal drafting skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work setting with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in litigation, including depositions and court appearances
