Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established civil litigation law firm located in Chicago, IL, is looking to expand its team with an experienced Associate Attorney. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to take on a dynamic role in managing high-stakes civil litigation cases across various practice areas, including municipal liability, police misconduct defense, employment defense, and insurance defense. The firm offers a collaborative environment where attorneys can develop their skills while handling both state and federal court cases.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in civil litigation cases in both state and federal courts.
  • Conduct depositions, including those of parties, experts, and witnesses.
  • Manage discovery processes by preparing and responding to discovery requests.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment and other pre-trial motions.
  • Participate in jury trials in both state and federal courts.
  • Prepare detailed case reports and case analyses for clients.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and the legal team on case strategies and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar and eligibility to practice in Illinois federal courts.
  • 2-5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a particular focus on municipal liability, police misconduct defense, employment defense, or insurance defense.
  • Proven success in jury trials, with a track record of case outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present complex legal arguments clearly and persuasively.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, offering support to colleagues and clients alike.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Illinois State Bar membership.
  • Admission to federal courts in Illinois is preferred.
