A law firm seeks an entry-level patent attorney to join its growing intellectual property practice. This role provides an opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals and gain hands-on experience in various aspects of intellectual property law, including patent and trademark prosecution, opinion writing, and litigation. The position is ideal for candidates with a technical background and a passion for innovation and legal strategy.

Duties

  • Assist with preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications.
  • Collaborate with clients and technical experts to understand and protect innovations.
  • Conduct research and draft legal opinions on patentability, infringement, and other intellectual property matters.
  • Support litigation teams in intellectual property disputes.
  • Develop a deep understanding of patent law through direct mentorship and practical experience.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree with strong academic performance in law school.
  • Background in engineering, computer science, or advanced sciences.
  • Prior professional experience in engineering, computer science, or a related field is a plus.
  • Commitment to pursuing registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Education

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or an advanced science field.

Certifications

  • Eligibility to sit for the USPTO patent bar exam.
  • Willingness to become registered as a patent practitioner with the USPTO.
