General Liability (Maritime) Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for its General Liability practice group with a focus on Maritime law. This position is available across multiple locations in Florida and is suited for candidates with strong writing, research, and litigation skills.

Location:

• Tallahassee, FL

Duties:

• Review files and conduct legal analysis of claims and causes of action
• Perform extensive legal research and draft briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs
• Achieve a minimum annual billable requirement of 1950 hours
• Represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and in depositions
• Draft and respond to discovery requests
• Collaborate on expert witness retention
• Prepare for and attend trials
• Some travel may be required

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in General Liability, specifically Maritime law
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
• Admitted to practice in Florida; admission in additional states is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent research and communication abilities, both written and oral
• Strong work ethic with the ability to self-manage in a team environment
• Prompt responsiveness to emails and phone inquiries
• Exceptional client interaction skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited institution

Certifications:

• Active law license in Florida
