Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in New York City, NY, is seeking an experienced Patent Prosecution and Litigation Associate Attorney to join their growing team. This role focuses on patent prosecution in the fields of electrical engineering and software or mechanical engineering. As a key member of the firm, the associate will be responsible for drafting patent applications, managing litigation matters, and providing counsel on intellectual property issues.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in electrical engineering, software, or mechanical fields.
• Provide legal guidance and strategic advice on patent prosecution and related intellectual property matters.
• Manage complex litigation cases involving patent disputes.
• Conduct patent searches and analyze prior art.
• Draft legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their IP needs and provide tailored solutions.
• Represent clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Requirements:

• 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including application drafting.
• Experience in patent litigation is a plus.
• Registered with the USPTO.
• Admitted to practice law in New York State.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A collaborative approach to working with clients and colleagues.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in New York State.
• Registration with the USPTO.
