Job Overview

A renowned global law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Attorney to join its in-house global Risk team. This role involves drafting and negotiating complex client-facing contracts, advising partners on client contractual requirements, and collaborating with various business teams. The position is based in New York, NY, and offers an opportunity to work across a spectrum of legal, ethical, business, and strategic issues in a dynamic, high-performance environment.

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate complex client-facing agreements for various business sectors and types of representations.
  • Ensure client contracts comply with applicable ethical standards and internal policy requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate business and legal risks in client contracts to achieve business objectives.
  • Advise partners on client agreements, requirements, and business-related requests.
  • Draft and manage agreements, templates, external communications, playbooks, and processes.
  • Prepare and manage firm responses to client compliance and risk-related audits.
  • Enhance the efficiency and scalability of the in-house global Risk team’s commercial legal support.
  • Supervise and collaborate with administrative staff within the global Risk team.
  • Work with business teams including Finance, Business Development, Information Security, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience at a top-tier law firm, either as a practicing attorney or in an in-house role within a law firm.
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Strong communication, client-facing, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment, problem-solving abilities, and risk assessment skills.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and able to work independently with a strong work ethic.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
