Job Title: Real Estate/Environmental Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A prominent law firm in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced associate attorney with a focus on real estate and environmental regulatory matters. This role involves working on complex real estate transactions, land use issues, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transactional law and environmental regulations, with the ability to handle diverse client matters effectively.

Duties:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate real estate purchase and sale agreements, leases, and contracts.
  • Manage real estate closings and development projects, including brownfield redevelopment.
  • Provide counsel on environmental compliance, permitting, and enforcement actions.
  • Handle land use matters, including zoning hearings and other regulatory proceedings.
  • Advise on transactions involving contaminated sites and manage due diligence processes.
  • Collaborate with clients to achieve project goals and maintain ongoing business relationships.
  • Represent clients in hearings and zoning meetings across Virginia.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in real estate transactions and environmental regulations.
  • Proven ability to handle "dirt law" transactions with precision and efficiency.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Diligence, attention to detail, and an ability to work independently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Virginia State Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in real estate law, including development and transactional matters.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, and enforcement.
  • Business development acumen and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to travel within Virginia as needed for client meetings and hearings.
