Job Overview
A law firm seeks an experienced and compassionate Massachusetts-licensed attorney to join its team and provide skilled legal counsel in the areas of estate planning, wills and trusts, probate administration, and related real property matters. This role offers an opportunity to work directly with clients, help guide families through essential planning and legal processes, and contribute to the firm’s growth by supporting the lead attorney in managing a high-quality, client-centered practice. Duties

  • Conduct legal research and provide concise summaries to the lead attorney.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to paralegals, answering legal questions and ensuring quality work product.
  • Meet with clients to gather information, explain options, and provide clear legal guidance.
  • Draft a variety of legal documents, including wills, trusts, healthcare proxies, powers of attorney, probate petitions, real estate transfer documents, and related court filings.
  • Review and revise draft documents prepared by paralegals and other team members.
  • Represent clients in probate court proceedings as needed.
  • Contribute to the firm’s professional development efforts by writing blog posts, articles, or educational content on relevant legal topics.
  • Participate in community outreach efforts, including occasional workshops or educational programs designed to inform the public about estate planning, probate, and related issues.
  • Assist with networking and relationship-building with referral sources and allied professionals.
  • Help streamline legal processes to allow senior attorneys to focus on complex matters and strategic firm initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years practicing law with a focus on estate planning, probate, or trust administration in Massachusetts.
  • Previous experience working within a small law firm, solo practice, or other entrepreneurial professional environment.
  • Comfort collaborating with paralegals and support staff, as well as directly handling client interactions.
  • Adaptability to changing needs, deadlines, and priorities within a dynamic legal setting.
  • Strong organizational abilities and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with both traditional legal processes and technology-forward practices.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the Massachusetts Bar.
