A Fort Worth, TX law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Law Attorney to join their team. This role involves managing a family law caseload, supervising a team of paralegals, and representing clients in various legal proceedings. The ideal candidate will have a solid commitment to family law, excellent trial and advocacy skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and court personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a family law caseload, ensuring timely and effective handling of cases.
  • Provide direct supervision and mentorship to a team of paralegals.
  • Monitor active caseload for deadlines and required actions.
  • Review open and closed cases for proper recordkeeping and file maintenance.
  • Review and edit drafted original petitions, answers, and counterpetitions.
  • Complete and draft pre-trial discovery documents.
  • Represent clients as the lead attorney (1st chair) in bench and jury trials.
  • Attend case-related proceedings such as mediation and depositions.
  • File post-judgment motions, bills of review, and appeals.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the family law department to provide assistance and support when needed.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, other attorneys, court employees, and judicial officers.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and address corrective actions or disciplinary issues with the assistance of the managing attorney and chief legal officer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the managing attorney or chief legal officer.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
  • 2-3 years of relevant legal experience, with a strong commitment to family law.
  • Demonstrated trial and advocacy skills with prior litigation experience.
  • Ability to occasionally travel as required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in legal software and case management tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
