The position is remote, based in Albuquerque, NM, and involves providing high-quality legal services to clients while working closely with senior attorneys. The successful candidate will possess excellent research, writing, and litigation skills, along with the ability to manage cases and provide effective legal counsel.

Duties:

  • Maintain an average of 140 billable hours per month.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research using tools like Lexis-Nexis to develop case strategies.
  • Draft a variety of legal documents, including briefs, motions, contracts, and demand letters.
  • Assist in the preparation, filing, and litigation of cases in real estate, foreclosure defense, probate, and other civil matters.
  • Lead initial consultations with potential clients to assess their legal needs.
  • Manage and organize case files, ensuring all records are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, gathering required information and documentation.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and depositions virtually, with occasional in-person appearances.
  • Stay informed on developments in laws and regulations relevant to the practice areas.

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in New Mexico.
  • Residence within New Mexico, preferably in or near Albuquerque.
  • 1-4 years of attorney experience (Note: This position is not open to law students or individuals with less than 1 year of legal experience).
  • Strong proficiency with legal research tools like Lexis-Nexis.
  • Excellent writing skills with a clear ability to explain complex legal issues.
  • Experience in a law office or legal administrative role is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • New Mexico Bar membership (Required).
