Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A Washington, D.C.-based law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to support its federal practice focused on defending individuals subject to government scrutiny. This role is ideally suited for a detail-oriented legal professional interested in a wide spectrum of matters such as government investigations, ethics compliance, licensing issues, and security clearance eligibility. Attorneys in this firm collaborate in small teams and interact directly with clients from the outset, offering a dynamic and meaningful work environment.

Duties:

  • Assist in representing clients facing federal criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings

  • Work on matters involving professional misconduct, ethics, security clearance, civil rights, and disclosure compliance

  • Collaborate closely with partners and fellow associates on investigative and litigation strategies

  • Prepare legal documents, respond to agency inquiries, and advocate on behalf of clients in various forums

  • Maintain ongoing client communication to ensure clarity of representation and strategy

  • Conduct legal research, draft memoranda, and support briefings for regulatory and oversight bodies

  • Contribute to the refinement of firm practices through quality-driven legal analysis and persuasive writing

Requirements:

  • Bar admission in the District of Columbia, pending admission, or eligibility to waive into the DC Bar

  • Strong analytical, legal research, and writing abilities

  • Capacity to manage fast-paced caseloads with evolving legal questions

  • Professionalism in handling sensitive matters with discretion

  • Interpersonal skills conducive to direct and regular client interaction

  • Ability to function effectively in a small team environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active or pending license to practice law in the District of Columbia

  • Eligibility to waive into the DC Bar is considered

Skills:

  • Legal analysis and persuasive writing

  • Research on federal regulations and oversight procedures

Job Location:
