Job Overview: A law firm specializing in energy law is seeking an Energy Associate Attorney to join its team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will represent clients in the renewable energy and power sector, handling various project development, acquisition, and financing transactions.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in transactions related to developing, acquiring, and financing renewable energy projects.
  • Engage in substantive responsibility with client contact, ensuring effective communication and understanding of client needs.
  • Work on various transactions involving energy commodities trading, debt or equity project financing, commercial lending, and power purchase agreements.
  • Conduct due diligence for complex transactions on behalf of buyers, sellers, or financing parties.
  • Draft and negotiate project development, construction, and operations contracts.
  • Provide legal advice and support on leasing, tax credits, and other relevant areas in renewable energy projects.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in the renewable energy industry at a large law firm with a national reputation or comparable in-house counsel role.
  • Admitted and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • Strong academic credentials from a top-tier law school.

Experience in:

  • Debt or equity project financing.
  • Energy trading.
  • Commercial lending.
  • Power purchase agreements.
  • Due diligence for complex transactions.
  • Project development, construction, and operations contracts.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with renewable energy project financing mechanisms and tax incentives.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.

Certifications:
