Job Overview:
A well-regarded law firm is seeking Associate Attorney to join its team in the Cleveland office, specializing in patent law related to Data Science. The successful candidates will work closely with experienced attorneys on a variety of patent-related legal duties. Location:

Duties:

  • Draft and prepare patent applications for Data Science-related inventions
  • Conduct patent searches and prepare detailed search reports
  • Assist in preparing for patent litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests and responses
  • Aid in deposition and oral argument preparation
  • Perform legal research and provide support on other intellectual property matters
  • Collaborate with other attorneys to develop strategies for patent prosecution and litigation

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Data Science or a related field
  • Must be willing to take the Ohio Bar Exam
  • Strong academic record sufficient to register or gain limited recognition to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) at the time of employment
  • Interest in patent law and intellectual property, with a focus on Data Science-related technologies

Education:

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school
  • BS in Data Science or a related technical field

Certifications:

  • Eligibility to register or attain limited recognition to practice before the USPTO is required at the time of employment

Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to analyze complex technical and legal issues
  • Excellent research and drafting abilities
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of Data Science technologies and their applications in the field of patent law
