A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Woodland Park, NJ. The ideal candidate will have approximately 3 years of litigation experience, particularly in defending public entities and officials against negligence or civil rights violations. This position offers a flexible hybrid remote work environment, with occasional in-office meetings and court appearances. The role will involve a variety of legal tasks across different practice areas, offering exposure to both transactional and litigation work.

Duties

  • Perform factual and legal research and analysis for cases.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including motions, briefs, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Assist in preparing agreements, documents, and local legislation for government clients.
  • Attend court conferences, oral arguments, depositions, and trials.
  • Participate in the defense of public entities and officials in negligence and civil rights violation cases.
  • Draft and review documents for filing with the Court.
  • Provide general legal assistance across various practice areas as needed.
  • Attend client meetings and off-site sessions as required.

Requirements

  • Approximately 3 years of experience in litigation, preferably with exposure to defending public entities or civil rights defense.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a variety of legal tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable with a remote work environment and able to maintain a dedicated workspace.
  • Willingness to travel for court appearances, depositions, and meetings as needed.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in New Jersey or be able to obtain licensure promptly.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active New Jersey Bar License or eligibility to obtain it.
