A law firm is seeking a highly experienced Tax Attorney to join their team in Portland. The ideal candidate will work on significant projects within a successful team, leveraging a full-service bi-coastal platform to attract and grow a book of business. This role offers the opportunity to work on pro bono and public service matters, providing both management and leadership opportunities for interested candidates.

 

Key Duties:

  • Work on complex tax projects and transactions for a diverse client base.
  • Develop and grow a book of business utilizing the firm's full-service bi-coastal platform.
  • Provide tax planning and compliance advice to clients, including corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various tax-related documents and agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and provide written and oral advice on tax matters.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to provide comprehensive legal services to clients.
  • Represent clients before federal, state, and local tax authorities and in tax-related litigation.
  • Participate in pro bono and public service matters.
  • Engage in business development activities to attract new clients and expand services to existing clients.
  • Manage significant individual responsibilities with the opportunity for leadership and management roles.

 

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of income tax experience.
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • LL.M. in Tax.
  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical and writing skills.
  • A client-service approach and exceptional communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with and building a diverse team.
  • The ability to manage significant individual responsibilities.
  • A book of business is preferred.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • LL.M. in Taxation.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar where the position is located and in good standing.
