General Liability Defense Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview

An established law firm is seeking a General Liability Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join its New York office. This full-time role offers the opportunity to manage a high-volume caseload of complex litigation matters, including personal injury, medical malpractice, and insurance defense cases. The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior attorneys while taking ownership of their cases, contributing to strategic litigation decisions, and delivering exceptional service to clients. Hybrid and remote work options are available for this position.

Duties

• Manage and handle a high-volume caseload of general liability defense litigation matters, including personal injury, medical malpractice, and insurance defense.
• Take ownership of case files from inception to resolution, including managing discovery, motions, hearings, and settlement discussions.
• Work closely with Partners to develop and execute litigation strategies.
• Provide legal representation for insurance carriers and clients in court and during depositions.
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and other court documents.
• Client interaction: Communicate and collaborate regularly with clients to provide updates and ensure exceptional service.
• Participate in negotiations and settlement conferences as required.

Requirements

• Experience in litigation, particularly in general liability defense, including personal injury and insurance defense.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in New York.
• Strong litigation experience, including drafting legal documents, taking depositions, and appearing in court.
• Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and work efficiently under deadlines.
• Exceptional analytical, research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience in medical malpractice and insurance defense preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active member of the New York State Bar (or eligible for admission).
