Job Overview: A law firm seeks a Mid-Level Nonprofit and Associations Associate Attorney with at least 4+ years of experience in a law firm environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal matters about tax-exempt organizations. Experience with contracts, governance, corporate structures, component/affiliate relations, licensing, membership programs, and lobbying is advantageous.

Job Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to nonprofit and association clients.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as contracts, bylaws, and articles of incorporation.
  • Advise clients on matters related to governance and corporate structures.
  • Assist with component/affiliate relations and regulatory compliance.
  • Handle licensing and membership program issues.
  • Participate in lobbying efforts on behalf of clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience practicing law.
  • Experience in a law firm setting is preferred.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit and association law.
  • Familiarity with tax-exempt organizations and related regulations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Maryland Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit and association legal issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Capacity to build and maintain client relationships.
